Our History
Prior to 1995, there had been isolated ventures into videoconferencing technology on some of Rutgers campuses, most notably by the School of Nursing in Newark, and the Food Science department in New Brunswick.   With the appointment of a Vice-President for Continuing Studies, a unit was created which was charged with providing those resources to the entire Rutgers community. The initial thrust was to establish a group of resource-rich classrooms operating on Rutgers' major campuses to support Interactive Distance Learning.   Soon, additional off-campus centers followed in places like Trenton, Freehold and Morris County, which extended the reach of Rutgers academic offerings throughout New Jersey.

At present, the Division of Continuing Studies operates and maintains 15 individual videoconferencing sites. These facilities are home to undergraduate and graduate credit courses, as well as a variety of professional development and certificate programs.   Administrative units regularly conduct training sessions and administrative meetings across campuses and around the state in these same rooms.
